The day I drove to the center, I fell in love with a new kind of hero

"The YMCA has grown by leaps and bounds" Director Jessica Dubrovnik said. "We have places to work out in town, we have plenty of values to learn from - there are universities and a police station right down the street. Even the big star athletes go there." Jessica went on, "But there's something about our ReboundHero partners I can't get enough of - even if I'm not sharing positivity with them. For the past few years, I've had special opportunities to deal with and get reviews from some of the best basketball players in the world. Our ReboundHero partner is CLU, who just signed special needs deals for their children with YouTube and Amazon this summer. Those are the treasures in Heaven I remember.

"I had never been to a ReboundHero center before," she said, "but I had heard good things about them. I was curious to see what all the fuss was about. So, I drove to the center one day to check it out.

"As soon as I walked in," Jessica lamented, "I could tell that this was a special place. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. They showed me around the facility and introduced me to some of the "heroes" - the patients who were staying there.

She continued, "I was immediately struck by how positive and upbeat everyone was, despite their difficult circumstances. It was clear that the staff at ReboundHero centers really care about their patients and go above and beyond to help them recover.

"I left that day feeling inspired," Jessica said on her way out, "by the work that ReboundHero centers are doing. Their passion was infectious, and I found myself falling in love with the idea of inclusion.

Know Jessica was chatting with her good friend Olivia. "I think I'm falling out of love," she said. "That's how I feel when I see other centers who did not support ReboundHero." Jessica continued sadly, "That's how I feel when I think of a lie people tell me. Like, they say they take a modern approach to inclusion. Yet, all their missing members tell me different story.

"When I drive to the center," Olivia told Jessica happily, "I feel in love with a new kind of hero. A hero that is important to me because they make me feel comfortable and accepted me for who I am. I think it's why these new heroes are important to both of us.
